Times Are Changing Faster Than Ever

The Future Won’t Wait

We've been lied to for most of our lives. The harsh reality is that many of us are equipped to make a living in a world that no longer exists. We’re not just competing for physical survival but also economic and professional survival.

This became painfully clear to me after getting laid off and I struggled to find a job that didn’t make me miserable or leave me feeling underutilized. Despite having valuable skills (even a degree, which, let’s be honest, doesn’t mean much anymore), I found myself stuck in a system that didn’t reward my potential.

Turning Point

For a long time my own ignorance kept me from facing my own harsh truths but when I ruptured my achilles I was forced to slow down and really rethink my goals and what i wanted out of life. Before my injury, I always felt too busy to question my path. But sitting still for months, I finally had to confront the truth. I was out of work for months and felt stuck and for the first time in my life i knew something drastic was gonna have to change.

One of my favorite movie series of all time is The Matrix, particularly the first film, which revolves around the idea of "waking up." You can choose to stay comfortable, or you can make a change that gives your life meaning.

Many people are stuck in jobs that don’t align with their unique abilities, passions, or where the future is headed. The digital-first economy is evolving at a pace that’s difficult to keep up with if you aren't aware of it.

"The first principle is that you must not fool yourself, and you are the easiest person to fool." — Richard Feynman

Despite inflation and rising costs (which aren’t going back down), we still have opportunities that our ancestors could only dream of. But to seize them, we must become the type of people who can recognize them—otherwise, we’ll waste time chasing bronze coins while surrounded by gold.

The Importance of Meaning and Hope for the Future

Most people don’t think far into the future. Don’t be like most people.

Your ability to visualize the future and let that vision dictate your present actions is one of your greatest superpowers. I like to use the 10x future version of myself to guide my decisions today.

Without hope for the future, the present lacks meaning. No one else can define your future for you—you have to imagine it for yourself. Einstein famously said that imagination is more important than knowledge. Don’t underestimate the power of your own imagination.

The Digital Evolution

Just as species adapt through natural selection, we must evolve through digital upskilling to thrive in this new tech-driven world. Ignoring this shift isn’t an option—it’s self-inflicted extinction.

The economy is shifting toward a knowledge- and service-based structure, heavily influenced by AI and automation. Self-driving cars and robots aren’t the future—they’re the present.

Your competition isn’t just AI; it’s also the people who learn to use it quickly and efficiently. AI hasn’t completely replaced humans yet, but it has dramatically enhanced what we can do.

I remember the first time I used ChatGPT in 2023—I was blown away but didn’t fully grasp how quickly things were changing. Now, it’s clear that those who embrace these tools will have a massive advantage.

The Creator Economy

The creator economy is made up of people who build communities and share their ideas online. Individuals with personal brands and online audiences have become one of the most significant economic forces of our time.

Creators earn money directly from their audience or through partnerships with companies on platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. Major companies collaborate with creators because they’re competing for attention.

The creator economy has changed business forever—and it’s only growing. It’s projected to reach nearly half a trillion dollars by 2027. You don’t have to be a late adopter. Pay attention to what’s happening around you.

The Wealth Eras

History shows that each economic era gets shorter, leaving less time to adapt to technological advancements:

  • Agricultural Age (0-1750): Wealth was tied to land ownership, leading to slow growth and rigid social classes.

  • Industrial Age (1750-1950s): Wealth shifted to machine ownership. The 8-hour workday was created, and people still needed permission to innovate.

  • Distribution Age (1950-1978): Wealth was linked to distribution networks.

  • Technology Age (1978-1994): The personal computer changed everything.

  • Information Age (1994-Present): The internet and digital tools provide infinite leverage.

This is the greatest era to be alive—if you have the focus and awareness to take advantage of it.

Permission-less Leverage

"In an age of infinite leverage, judgment is the most important skill." — Naval Ravikant

You don’t need permission from anyone.

No other time in history has provided individuals with this level of leverage. The internet allows instant distribution of content, multiplying your efforts exponentially. A single piece of content—whether a video, article, or tweet—can reach millions.

Other types of leverage include:

  • Labor: Hiring or collaborating with others

  • Capital: Investing or leveraging other people’s capital (OPC)

  • Code: Creating or owning software used by the masses

  • Content/Media: Becoming your own media company

  • Digital Products: Creating scalable, zero-marginal-cost products

The 4 Levels of Value

You’re paid based on the value you create, not just hard work. Many people work hard but remain stuck at lower levels of value because they don’t understand this:

  1. Implementation: Making money with your hands (employees, technicians, laborers). This level is time- and muscle-dependent, limiting earning potential. You can only use so much of it in a day before you become physically exhausted or “burned out”.

  2. Unification: You are using a different skillset but it still involves you using time and muscle which are finite resources.Managing others to execute tasks (supervisors, managers). More leverage, but still limited by time.

  3. Communication: Using words to generate uncapped revenue (salespeople, writers, influencers, entertainers). This level creates real wealth. This is where is started to click for me which inspired me to want to develop my communication skills and operate on higher levels of value

  4. Imagination: Making money with your mind and ideas (innovators, entrepreneurs, visionaries). The highest level of impact and leverage. Think of Steve Jobs, Elon, Jeff Bezos, Kanye or anyone else that has possibly had an impact on you because of they were able to use their imagination to bring creations to life.

I used to underestimate the power of communication until I realized its influence in every aspect of business and life. Vinh Giang, a public speaking coach, said: "The value you have inside of you tends to be invisible unless you can communicate it well." That hit home for me.

Practical Steps to Adapt and Thrive

  • Writing: Develop a daily writing habit. Writing is foundational—every tweet, email, and script you create is an opportunity to refine your thinking and communication.

  • Learning: Learn how to learn. The faster you acquire relevant skills, the better you can adapt. Take online courses like Learning How to Learn to improve and figure out how you learn best.

  • Leveraging Technology: Embrace AI and automation to enhance your productivity. Experiment with AI tools like ChatGPT, Notion AI, or MidJourney.

  • Develop Agency(Skill): It helps ensure you have the awareness to take charge of your own growth instead being passively swept along by the changing of times.

  • Build Permission-less Projects: Launch a blog, YouTube channel, or newsletter without waiting for external approval. There will never be a perfect time to get started.

  • Network Intentionally: Connect with Like-Minds and join online on in person communities. Its easy to feel like you are alone on your journey maybe due to your environment but there are more people similar to you than you think but you have to find them or do something to attract them .For me personally the content I put out online has helped me connect with some people I wouldn’t be friends with today if never decided to post it.

Understand Levels of Value & Leverage

Assess where you currently operate: implementation, unification, communication, or imagination and create a roadmap to move up the levels by developing your skill.

Learn about what you love until you love to learn. No one is coming to save you. Take proactive decisions about your life. Don’t rely on traditional paths that that wont be relevant.

We live in an age of unprecedented opportunity—but only for those who recognize it. The key is to develop future-proof skills, embrace technology, and build leverage in a way that aligns with your strengths.

If you found this letter valuable, share it with someone who’s ready to embrace the future instead of being intimidated by it.
